Public Notice:
Public Hearings on the Shalersville Township
Electric Aggregation Program
Plan of Operation and Governance
The Board of Trustees will hold two public hearings on the Shalersville Township Electric Aggregation Program’s Plan of Operation and Governance. The hearings will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 5, 2026 and 5:30 p.m. on March 17, 2026, both at the Township Hall.
On November 6, 2001, Portage County voters passed a ballot question, which authorized the township to form a governmental electric aggregate on behalf of residents. Shalersville Township shall adopt the Plan of Operation pursuant to Section 4928.20(C) of the Revised Code and develop an opt-out aggregation program following the procedure set forth in Ohio Revised Code Section 4928.20.
The Plan of Operation will describe services provided, professional assistance used, and determination of rates, opt-out procedures, customer-billing procedures, credit procedures and joining/leaving the aggregation procedures. The program is expected to begin in June 2026. All eligible customers who receive electric generation service from Ohio Edison will be included in the township’s aggregate unless they opt-out after receiving a mailing notifying them of their right to opt-out. Customers under contract with another supplier will not have a change in service.
