Qualified individuals are required to possess a valid class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and have knowledge and experience in and be able to perform the duties and responsibilities as described below.
Must have knowledge of highway/building maintenance practices and procedures, and safety practices and procedures. Must be skilled in the operation and use of a variety of construction tools and equipment including backhoes, excavators, medium and heavy trucks, jackhammers, mowers, saws, etc. Possess the ability to construct projects with building materials (e.g. wood, concrete, asphalt, etc.) Possess the ability to perform the duties that are necessary for snow and ice control operations. Be capable of working alone, standing, sitting, or bending continuously.
Assigned to maintain approximately 25 miles of roadway, 3 cemeteries, park, maintenance building, town hall and town center. Must be able to work extended period of time, particularly during the snow and ice season. Required to be available to work overtime hours and work overtime in emergency situations. May be exposed to extreme temperatures and weather conditions while working outdoors; climbing ladders, working in confined spaces and elevated/high work areas. Exposure to fumes, dust, dirt, grease, unpleasant odors, vibration and loud noise.
Assign daily duties in the operation of vehicles and equipment; perform labor needed for the repair and maintenance of township facilities including asphalt roadways, concrete, drainage, mowing, painting buildings, facilities, and equipment. Communicate information to and from supervisor and other duties as assigned.
This position will report directly to the maintenance supervisor.
Wages to be determined based on qualification and experience.
